Feel Good Friday – Mindful Collage Class

2 December @ 13:30 - 15:30 GMT

Create an impactful pop-art style self-portrait with collage artist Birungi Kawooya, who will help you to reveal your inner creative. “But I can’t draw!” you say! Self-taught artist Birungi teaches absolute beginners to shake off nerves, focus the mind and create freely. Collage with stunning African print fabric and card and reimagine yourself into a work of art.

Materials for this event will be provided for you – just bring an open mind for 90 minutes of creativity! A festive afternoon tea will be served on arrival.

Programme

  • 1.30pm – Festive Afternoon Tea.
  • 2pm – Welcome and introductions from Lilly Brend-Fish, SoA events and outreach assistant.
  • 2.05pmBirungi Kawooya’s mindful art, self-portrait collage class.

The Line-up

Birungi Kawooya – Artist

Birungi Kawooya is an artist and art tutor inspired by nature, the beauty of Black womxn and the ingenuity of dance from the African diaspora using batik, paper and paint. Birungi creates wellbeing spaces, helping participants to unwind and portray their past, present and imagine their ideal future in art. Birungi has led online and in-person art workshops for The Royal Borough of Greenwich, University of Arts London, Black Mind, Sheffield Maternity Cooperative and Peckham Platform.

We recommend the following:

  • Staying home if you’re feeling unwell or have COVID-19 symptoms
