Feel Good Fridays – Positive Poetry Party

Poet Rachel Long hosts a Positive Poetry Party on the theme love and kindness. Read your poetry aloud and listen to work from other SoA members. Connect with other poets and writers in a safe, fun and supportive environment.
Hosted in conjunction with our Poetry and Spoken Word Group.
This event is for SoA members only. If you are a member and would like to read your poem, email Nadia Bonini with ‘Positive Poetry Party – Reading’ in the subject header.
- 2 minutes – Short intro from Nadia Bonini, SoA Membership Manager and Secretary of the Poetry and Spoken Word Group (PSWG)
- 5 minutes – Welcome and poetry reading from host Rachel Long
- 25 minutes – Poetry readings (other readers will be confirmed before the day):

Feel Good Friday events will be left open for 15 minutes at the end of each session.

Rachel Long’s debut collection, My Darling from the Lions (Picador) was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection in 2020, and the Costa Book Award 2020. She is the founder of Octavia Poetry Collective.

Financial support for authors in need through the health crisis and beyond
Since March 2020, the Authors’ Contingency Fund has distributed over £1 million in small grants to authors facing financial hardship due to COVID-19.
With at least 57% of authors facing financial losses during the pandemic, we have helped people struggling financially due to contractual, employment and event cancellations, others who have lost income due to illness, and others prevented from working because of caring responsibilities.
As the health crisis continues, applications for grants continue to come in, and our emergency funds are running low.
