North Wales Group: The Art of Kickstarting
25 May @ 19:00 - 20:00 BST

Join the North Wales Group on Thursday 25 May from 7pm for their next online meet-up. Illustrator and ‘Kickstartist’ Bonnie Helen Hawkins talks to group organiser Daniel Whelan about her adventures in self publishing via a successful Kickstarter campaign for her calendar collaboration with writer Joanne Harris. The session will look at how the project came about, why crowdfunding was chosen as the method of publication, and the seven steps each campaign goes through before it can be launched. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A.
Bonnie Helen Hawkins is a visual artist. She successfully ran her own gallery in Bath, curating exhibitions on behalf of other artists as well as holding an annual solo show of her own work. Bonnie’s clients include private art collectors around the world, corporations, interior designers and charities. A chance encounter with the writer Joanne Harris led to her burgeoning career in illustration. Bonnie has gone on to illustrate three novellas, several book jackets, and poetry. Her first picture book, Dinosaurs Living in My Hair 3 : An Underwater Adventure by Jayne M. Rose-Vallee, has won multiple awards.
Daniel Whelan’s first book, The Box of Demons, won the Write Now! Prize. He has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Manchester, and is the organiser of the SoA’s North Wales Group.
All members welcome! This event will be conducted in English.
