In conjunction with SoA Awards & the Poetry and Spoken Word Group
Join us for a special SoA Awards Positive Poetry Party hosted by this year’s TS Eliot Prize winner and Eric Gregory Awards judge, poet Joelle Taylor. Listen and watch live poetry readings from this year’s SoA Award poets – including the Cholmondeley and Eric Gregory winners as well as judges from both awards – and connect with other writers in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

This event is part of SoA Awards @ Home – ongoing celebrations for this year’s Society of Authors’ Awards. The event will take place online via Zoom and a link will be sent to registered attendees.
Hosted in conjunction with our Poetry and Spoken Word Group.

The line-up
Joelle Taylor (Chair, Eric Gregory Judge)
Joelle Taylor is an award-winning poet and author who prior to the pandemic completed a world tour with her collection Songs My Enemy Taught Me. She founded SLAMbassadors, the UK national youth poetry slam championships, as well as the international spoken-word project Borderlines. She is widely anthologised, the author of 4 collections of poetry and is currently completing her debut collection of inter-connecting short stories The Night Alphabet. Her new poetry collection C+NTO & Othered Poems was published in June 2021 which won the 2021 TS Eliot Prize for Poetry and is the subject of the Radio 4 arts documentary Butch.

About the Poetry and Spoken Word Group
The SoA Poetry and Spoken Word Group (PSWG) is a professional community for poets and spoken word artists. We come together to discuss issues affecting poets and the spoken word community, offer advice and support, and raise the profile of poetry and performance.
The Group is run by an elected committee and a professional coordinator from the SoA.
