Tuesday 10 August, 4pm
Grandpont tour with Liz Woolley
Many of you have enjoyed Liz Woolley’s guided walks round Oxford, and this time she takes us round south Oxford’s recherché neighbourhood of Grandpont, rich in local history. Meet in Hinksey Park, at the table tennis table (car park adjacent, off the Abingdon Road), for an hour and a half’s walk between sites of fascinating revelation; and finish with the reward of prosecco in Brenda’s back garden!
£5 to attend; register with email@example.com
Saturday 21 August, afternoon
Chipping Norton tour with David Jefferis
David Jefferis is the author of The Little Book of Chippy. David will give us a one-hour guided tour of the notable sites of Chipping Norton, followed by tea at Chippy’s best bookshop, Jaffé and Neale. Take the S3 bus from Magdalen St stop C4 at 13.50, arriving after a scenic Oxfordshire tour at Chipping Norton, West Street at 14.39.
Free to attend; register with firstname.lastname@example.org
Monday 30 August, 10am-7pm
Little Clarendon Street Summer Community Market
A Bank Holiday opportunity to stroll, meet friends and sample local produce.
Sunday 5 September, afternoon
Walk round Wallingford
Have you ever wandered round Wallingford? It’s the most beautiful Thames-side market town, and Writers in Oxford member Jane Stubbs enjoys a stunning roof terrace with views out towards the Chilterns. Bus fans take the X38 bus from St Aldate’s H3 at 14.05, and we meet outside Waitrose at 14.45. We will take a one-hour walk down the Thames, and then join Jane for tea at 4 pm. Car drivers can park in Goldsmith’s Lane car park, OX10 0DN, for free on Sundays.
