Fundraise

Donate your time to the Contingency Fund.

Can you spare a few hours to organise a sponsored event or auction to help raise money for the Fund (and even have some fun in the process)?

Here are some ideas to get you started.

Organise a sponsored activity

From walks, bike rides or skydives, to shaving your head or translating Proust while suspended by a bungee 20 metres in the air, a sponsored activity can be a fantastic way to make the most of small donations, and have some fun along the way.

All you need to get started is:

  • Your idea
  • Your sponsorship form – download

The form includes full information on how to manage the fundraising side, including how to send us the money you raise. If you have any questions, get in touch.

Run an online auction

Do you have something you are happy to donate that others will compete for? A signed first edition of one of your books? An hour of mentoring? A hand-written quote from your work on a postcard?

All you need to get started is:

  • Something of value
  • An engaged online audience

An auction is not a normal donation, so in most cases it will not be possible for us to claim Gift Aid on the money you raise.

Set up your own fundraising page

We’re in the process of adding this feature to the website and should have some resources available shortly. If you’d like to set up your own fundraising page here on the SoA website, just complete the pledge form and tick ‘Set up a fundraising page’ as one of your options. We’ll let you know as soon as we’re ready.

Team up

If you are an SoA member and you’d like to organise a fundraising effort with other members in your area, get in touch. We’ll put out a call so you can gauge interest.
