Sitting within the SoA’s policy and campaigns team, Heather Parry joined the SoA as Senior Policy and Liaison Manager for Scotland in February 2022. Heather is based in Scotland and works with our Scottish National Committee to improve the publishing landscape for all authors in Scotland.

Ambre joined the SoA on October 2021. She advises members on publishing contracts and issues. She also works on the SoA’s public policy. Ambre is joint group coordinator for the Translators Association.

Johanna Clarke

Johanna joined the SoA in October 2021 and advises members on publishing contracts and issues. She works closely on the SoA’s outreach programme and is a co-host of The SoA Advisory Clinic podcast. Johanna is the coordinator for the SoA’s Poetry and Spoken Word Group.

Teddy McDonald

Teddy McDonald

Teddy works on SoA communications and outreach and alongside the Policy department on the SoA’s campaigns work. He is also co-coordinator of the Children’s Writers and Illustrators Group, working with Sarah Burton and members of the CWIG committee on issues close to children’s writers.

Sophia curates and delivers the SoA events programme. She supports our team of community coordinators and is a coordinator herself, for the Scriptwriters Group. She is also co-chair of the SoA’s Staff Inclusivity Network. In 2021 Sophia was named a Rising Star by The Bookseller.

Sarah is one of our Senior Contracts Advisors. She advises members on publishing contracts and issues as well as administering our grants for writers in need, including the PD James Memorial Fund. She also handles our literary estates, including print permissions and amateur stage licences.

Robyn joined the SoA in 2018. Along with the prizes and grants team, she administers 21 prizes for fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and translation. Francesca leads on our community development and outreach programmes, which aim to engage and empower authors, poets, screenwriters, translators and illustrators, at all stages of their careers, throughout the UK. She is the coordinator for the SoAiW.
